ABUAD multi-system hospital inaugurates state-of-the-art IVF centre

By Victor Akinkuolie, Ado-Ekiti

The Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti Multi-System Hospital (AMSH) has launched an ultra-modern In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) centre to enhance quality reproductive healthcare for Nigerians and others beyond the country’s borders.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the founder of ABUAD, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, stated that the initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to addressing health challenges and improving lives.

Babalola expressed concern over the stigma and emotional trauma faced by couples unable to conceive after years of trying, noting that the new facility will offer comfort and hope to men and women seeking to build families.

He highlighted that the IVF centre is equipped with cutting-edge technology and modern equipment, ensuring affordable access to fertility services compared to the high costs of similar treatments abroad.

“The university and the health facility have remained leaders in education and healthcare in the country,” he said, emphasizing ABUAD’s ongoing investment in societal development.

Babalola dismissed the misconception that services offered at the university and hospital are excessively expensive. He reiterated that both institutions were established not for profit but to provide quality education and healthcare.

“We are taking a bold step today by commissioning the latest equipment to combat childlessness,” the elder statesman remarked.

He recalled the historical stigma surrounding infertility, stating, “In the past, people insulted men and women who could not have children. Today, with an affordable amount, Nigerians can access IVF services here at ABUAD without the need to travel abroad.”

The Chief Medical Director of AMSH, Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe, described the launch as a landmark achievement in the pursuit of world-class healthcare.

He assured couples struggling with infertility, saying, “We extend a heartfelt invitation to explore the services available at AMSH’s fertility centre. Parenthood can be a challenging journey, but you are not alone. At AMSH, we are committed to helping you turn your dreams into reality.”
