Team Ondo has shot to the lead after Day 3 events at the maiden Basic Education School Sports (BESS) competition in the Federal Capital, Abuja.

Michael Otemuyiwa and Olayinbosun Semilore opened the floodgate of medals with a gold medal in Table Tennis.

The victorious Ondo State pair beat their FCT counterparts in the Mixed Doubles event.

In the Boys Doubles, Otemuyiwa paired Olaoluwa Faleye to win gold after defeating Akwa Ibom.

The state Girls Doubles pair of Oladumoye Temikotan and Isiaka Ohunene also grabbed gold while the boys clinched the silver medal.

Ondo State lead the medals table at the national public primary schools event with 4 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.

They are closely followed by the hosts FCT with 3 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals.
