Students have been advised to be diligent and studious to attain academic success.
The Principal of Adegbola Memorial Grammar School, Akure, Mrs Jogbodo Fadekemi, gave the advice at the official induction programme for fresh students into the school and a swearing-in ceremony for School Prefects for the 2022/2023 academic session.
The event, which was held at the school’s premises, had in attendance the President of Grade A Customary Court, Justice Rotiba Stephen and representatives of the Ministry of Education, among others.
While congratulating the newly admitted students, Mrs Jogbodo said they were selected among many other applicants.
“This is your day, it is an achievement and we are happy to associate with you, I urge you to be diligent and be studious with your academics. It is only through this you can be assured of success,” she stated.
Taking the oath of office administered by Justice Rotiba, the new inductees pledged to be good ambassadors and constantly discharge their duties as expected.
Justice Rotiba also commended the Principal for her initiative, stressing that principals of her type are hard to come by in public secondary schools.
He said, “we only see events of this nature in private schools. This should be the normal practice and I urge other principals to take a clue from this.”
In her remarks, the Vice Principal Academics, Mrs Adenike Dally, urged the students to be law-abiding and ensure they adhere to all the school’s rules and regulations.
Speaking on behalf of the new Prefects, the Head Boy, Oladipupo David, said, “I see this as a call to duty and I am confident that with the morals we have received so far, we will perform excellently well.”
