ACAOSA dedicates 292-seater sports pavilion to Alma mater

Students and Teachers of St Thomas Aquinas College, Akure were upbeat on Friday as old students of the college donated a multimillion naira Sports Pavilion and clinic to the college.
The students erupted into wild jubilation as the facilities were being commissioned.
The sports pavilion, a mini stadium was built by the National Association while the 1968/72 set donated the well equipped clinic.
The event drew many former students who were sport stars in their days to the ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the college.
Commissioning the facilities, the Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Dr Jude Ayodeji Arogundade showered praises and prayers on the old students for being grateful and giving back what the church has impacted on them.
Arogundade who was represented by Rev for Francis Ogunyankin described Aquinas as one of the best institutions in the world and implored the present students to take a cue from their old boys.
The National and World Wide President of the old students Association (ACAOSA) Justice Adesuyi Olateru Olagbegi said the core value of the College is integrity, excellence in academy and sports, saying that is why they are giving back this edifice of no equal in this clime for the college.
The Chairman planning committee, Professor Ambrose Ayelari said the pavilion is a special project for the school being the leading school in sporting activities in the state.
“We are using this opportunity to call on our old boys wherever they are to come and join us in lifting the image of the school, government alone cannot do it”.
According to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Owena Press, Sir Ademola Adetula, “it’s a unique event, I feel so excited particularly that these very laudable projects are being commissioned today before my eyes.”
