From Bukola Olamona
|
A student of Achievers University, Owo,who was crushed to death by a  truck  driver was yesterday buried amidst tears at  the Owo cemetery.

Late Wuraola  Bada,  a 100 level student  of Accounting  in company of  her friend, Ayomidotun who is still in coma in an undisclosed hospital was said to have boarded  commercial motorcycle, popularly  known as ‘ okada’ while coming back to school from Oja Oba market in Owo town where they had gone to buy goods.

The  truck  driver was said to have rammed into the   motorcycle  and subsequently killed  both the okada rider  and  Wuraola, while Ayomidotun was rushed to the hospital by sympathizers.

In a telephone interview with one of the students  who spoke under  the condition of anonymity, she said  Wuraola wanted to go to the market to buy plantain,  so she told her friend who is a 200 level Micro-biology student to follow her and they took a bike.  On their way back, a  truck  driver hit them from behind and ran over them.

“This happened Friday evening. Both Wuraola  and the okada  rider died on the spot.  The second girl is in a coma,” she added.

Also, a lecturer who did not want his name mentioned confirmed the incident. Investigation revealed that the  truck driver  was later apprehended by other okada  riders  and was beaten  and whisked away to an undisclosed location.

It was also gathered that the late Wuraola who hailed from Ikare Akoko lost her mother last year March.
