The House Committee on Public Account stated this during its familiarisation visit to the Office of the Accountant General and the Internal Revenue Service in Akure.

The Committee led by its Chairman, Olatunji lfabiyi commended the management of both offices for adding values to the State.

The Chairman posited that the Committee is a very important one created by the Federal government law and has the mandate to oversee all MDAs and set the records straight.

They called on both offices to work in synergy with the committee and ensure resources are judiciously used to develop the State.

The lawmakers informed that the visit became imperative to interact and know areas of difficulties to ensure enabling laws that will further make the agency and office thrive.

Earlier, the State Accountant General, Mrs Toyin Oni who reeled out her office activities to the committee informed that they are career officers groomed to be loyal to any government in power and get acquainted with its style, saying that the office relationship with the three arms of government will continue to be cordial to achieve common goal.

The AG informed that they have improved on their operation by migrating to more efficient platform to ensure effectiveness and avert any manipulation in salary payment.

Also, the Chairman ODIRS, Tolu Adegbie who presented the agency’s activities and achievements to the committee explained that he met so many challenges on assumption of office which brought about total restructuring through the political will of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

He stated that all tax stations as at today are well equipped including having banks and internet facilities, saying that by the end of next year, ODIRS would have finished building all tax stations with solar street lights without renting any building again.
