ACE to boost IGR with agriculture

The management of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, has disclosed plans to boost the institution’s internally generated revenue through agriculture.

The Acting Provost of the institution, Dr. Ajigbade Ikuejube, gave the hint while speaking with journalists in the institution.

Ikuejube said the school’s management has put up a plan to embark on the commercialisation of agricultural practices in the college.

He, however, allayed fears that the development would not affect the staff of the institution currently engaging in farming activities on its land.

His words: “I know we are nearing an era of transformation, the Agricultural system we have here is just for teaching, but our focus is to commercialize it and this will bring something in return apart from teaching.

“We are not saying we will take your farm from you because we know that some of our staff are occupying some strategic places on the land. We will leave those areas and see what could be done,” he stated.

Describing the College environment as fertile ground, where opportunities abound for development, the Acting Provost said plans are on ground to seek partnerships with investors, who would be willing to invest money in various areas to complement government efforts in the institution.

He added that the institution must complement government efforts by looking inward, as government cannot do it alone.
