ACHS, TAPS emerge winners of Inter School Rope Skipping Championship

Army Comprehensive High School (ACHS) and The Apostolic Primary School (TAPS) have emerged winners of the Ondo State Inter-School Rope Skipping Championship.
Army Comprehensive High School outshine eight other secondary schools to emerge Champion with 72 Total Discipline Point (TDP)and picked the most precious shield in the senior category.
While Apostolic Primary School came first in the Junior category with 53 TDP to also pick the available Gold medal in the junior category.
Oyemekun Grammar School scored 65 TDP to settle for silver while CAC Grammar School went home with Bronze medal with 59TDP.
In the junior category, Oyemekun staff School came second with 47TDP to coast home with Silver and Local Authority (LA IV) came third with 35TDP and returned home with Bronze medal.
Nine Secondary Schools include, Army Comprehensive High School, Oyemekun Grammar School, CAC Grammar School, Baptist High School, Ijapo High School, Impact High School,Accord Academy, Calvary International College and Saint Peters Unity Secondary School participated in the senior category.
Apostolic Primary School, Oyemekun Staff School, Local Authority (LA IV) primary School and Accord Academy Nursery and Primary School were the only four schools that took part in the junior Championship.
The National President of the Nigeria Rope Skipping Federation, Mr Dayo Noah Oyewo in a chat with newsmen commended the organizers and the participating schools for the success of the Championship.
Oyewo said efforts are on to ensure that Rope Skipping is spread across the grassroots like every other sports.
The Technical Director of the Nigeria Rope skipping Federation, Ukandu Chibuisi added that there is brighter future for the game within and outside the country saying it was showcased at the last Olympics and efforts are seriously going on to make it part of the Olympics sports .
He said the acceptability of the game among the athletes was the reason they were making effort to ensure it become a global sports like other games.
On her part, the Chairman of the Rope Skipping Association in the state Mrs Kayode Ajayi Sekiteri Bolanle averred that sports remain the best tool to keep the youth busy from Social vices admonished parents to encourage their children to be part of the Rope Skipping game.
“Our target was to join other sports to catch them young, we want to give them the basic of the game from the cradle as they grow the will be growing with it”
