Would-be farmers in the country have been enjoined to acquire the requisite knowledge in the areas they wish to invest.
A cassava farmer, Mrs Mercy Igoni said this while speaking in an interview with The Hope. She noted that most people go into farming without having the requisite knowledge .
According to her, risk in agriculture is high hence the need to have the necessary training before going into it.
While saying large scale farming is profitable when it is done properly, Igoni called on youths to acquire the necessary training and embrace it as a vocation.
She advised them to be dedicated to farming since it requires a lot of attention and hard work.
She called on government to give necessary assistance to youths who are ready to go into agriculture through training and funding to boost food security in the country.
Igoni also appealed to government to find a lasting solution to the issue of Fulani herdsmen in the country adding that her cassava farm was ravaged between September and October last year.
She stressed that the issue of Fulani herdsmen is a source of discouragement to farmers saying that labour of months can be destroyed in one day.
