Adarabioyo’s international future in limbo!
The future of London-born Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo is still uncertain as he was not named in the Three Lions squad or received any invitation to star for the Super Eagles amid earlier interest from Nigeria.
As announced on Thursday afternoon, the Chelsea central defender was not selected for England as Lee Carsley named his final squad as caretaker coach of the Three Lions, ahead of UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and Republic of Ireland.
German tactician Thomas Tuchel has been appointed as the new England coach from next January, and has put pen to paper on an eighteen-month contract.
Adarabioyo is still there for the taking as he has not been named in the Three Lions squad despite earlier interest from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). It could be recalled that former Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro previously initiated discussions with the dual-national player before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, but speculation has been rife over the international future of Adarabioyo since his transfer to Chelsea in the summer window.
The Manchester City academy graduate has no decision to make regarding his international future for the time being because he has not yet received a call-up from either Nigeria or England. Also, he has yet to force his way into Chelsea’s starting lineup, but he has impressed whenever manager Enzo Maresca has given him a chance to play.
Carsley has picked three forwards of Nigeria descent in his 26-man squad list, namely Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Dominic Solanke who are all cap-tied to England.
