ADC chairman docked over N5.5m car theft

The chairman of African Democratic Congress in Ondo town, Mr Samuel Adeusi aka Bamanga, has been dragged before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo town, for allegedly stealing one unregistered Lexus 350 vehicle belonging to one Abiola Makinde.
The police prosecutor, Mr. Abiodun Adebiyi said Adeusi allegedly stole the vehicle with intent to permanently deprive the complainant of his property valued at N5,500,000.
The 63-year-old accused, who is facing one – count bothering on stealing, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
He was said to have committed the offence June 28 ,2019 at about 12:00pm at road 11, Funbi Fagun Crescent in Ondo city.
The charge sheet read in part,”That you, Adeusi Samuel aka Bamanga on June 28,2019 at about 12:00pm at road 11, Funbi Fagun crescent, Ondo, in the Ondo Magisterial District did steal one unregistered Lexus 350 vehicle valued N 5,500,000:00 with intent to permanently deprive the owner of the vehicle, one Honourable Abiola Makinde. And thereby committed an offence contrary to section 383(2)(a) and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The defence counsel , S. A Iluyemi applied for the bail of his client in most liberal terms, assuring the court that the accused will stand trial.
Oluyemi also promised to write undertaking for his release to him, while he promised that his client would always come to court whenever the trial comes up.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Damilola Sekoni, granted the application of the defence counsel and therefore ordered the counsel to write an undertaking to take the accused on bail.
Sekoni further ordered that the counsel should undertake to produce the accused in court during and throughout the hearing of the case.
He adjourned the case till August 16, 2019 for trial.
