The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS) has said that it will surpass the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) budget of N36bn target for the year 2020.
The Chairman of ODIRS, Mr Tolu Adegbie, made this declaration yesterday, in a telephone interview with The Hope in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Adegbie said his organisation has been given a target of N36bn IGR budget for this year, which showed an increase of 20percent compared to last year IGR.
His words: “In 2018, the target was N20bn and we made N24bn. Last year was N29bn and we made N30bn. We crossed N29bn in the first week of last December and we had N30bn at the end of December which showed that we surpassed the budget of 2019 with N1bn. This year will not be an exception”
He said his organisation will commence full enforcement drive as soon as they move into their new office before the end of first quarter of the year.
“By the end of the first quarter, everything internally would have been done. Then, enforcement proper will commence”, he said.
He urged everybody to get ready to obey the law so that the state can get funds for it’s developmental projects which he said can not be truncated.
While declaring that government had been magnanimous and had not interfered in the activities of the revenue service, Adegbie noted that election has nothing to do with enforcement because it would be a one -day affair.
“Election does not disturb the law, we need funding to continue the development. And ODIRS activities cannot be disturbed by election, because everything we are doing is within the ambit of the law,” he said.
