Adekuoroye’s claim untrue, we supported her – Sports Commissioner

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State, Mr Saka Yusuf Ogunleye has denied comments made by Ondo State-born wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye that the state government did not support other sports aside football.
Adekuoroye had during an interview with a national daily not (The Hope newspaper) said the state government had neither supported nor fulfilled promises made to other sports, but only promotes Sunshine Stars FC.
Adekuoroye, also said he had moved on to join Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries(MFM) Wrestling Club and will represent them in the next edition of Gov. Dickson’s Wrestling Championship.
Yusuf-Ogunleye, reacted during the monthly edition of Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation – Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD) walking-Jogging exercise in Akure.
The commissioner said the state discovered Odunayo Adekuoroye and gave her all the necessary support and developed her to stardom.
“I was in Lagos with Odunayo Adekuoroye and his coach, Purity Akuh, about three days ago, I didn’t know this is coming. We wish her well , we won’t be a stumbling block to anybody’s ambition.
“We discovered Odunayo, employed Odunayo, we have been doing everything humanly possible to ensure we support her, but if she decides to leave and going by what we heard on the pages of newspapers and I think it is something to be worried about.
“But we have moved on there will be more ‘Odunayos’ to be discovered. We wish her good luck in all her future endeavours,” he said.
The State Coordinator of NYSC,Mrs Grace Akpabio, who was the captain for this month’s edition of the walking-jogging exercise thanked the people that participated in the exercise.
Akpabio advised the participants to always exercise in order to improve their general wellbeing.
