Adelami harps on vocational training

By Saheed Ibrahim

The Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Dr Olayide Adelami, has harped on the relevance of vocational training for employment and social development.

The Deputy Governor noted that government alone cannot provide jobs for all citizens, hence, the need for skill development for self-reliance.

Adelami made the remarks while playing host to the leadership of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Akure, in his office.

He charged them to incorporate vocational training into their programmes, noting that “government alone cannot provide job for everyone but create the enabling environment for those who are skilled and enterprising to operate”

JCI, a non-profit organization, is a global network of enterprising young leaders who are passionate about development

The deputy governor lauded the organization for providing a platform for leadership development, through which young people can contribute to the society.

He said, “I must appreciate that you are driving the philosophy of your organization in a manner that benefits our state and the country at large”

Earlier in his remarks, the local organization president of JCI Akure, Kunle Olajuyin, said the purpose of the visit is to congratulate the deputy governor and also find ways through which the state government and their organization can collaborate.
