In a significant gesture of responsive leadership, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has approved the long-awaited improved conditions of service for over 200 workers of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, categorised under “Group 2012/13.”
These workers had faced career development challenges for over a decade due to bureaucratic hurdles.
This uplifting news was conveyed to the elated staff by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Afolabi expressed profound gratitude to the governor for the gesture, describing him as a workers-friendly leader and commending his consistent prioritisation of workers’ welfare in the state.
He urged the affected staff to view their improved welfare as a call to greater duty, emphasising the need for them to justify their new status by demonstrating enhanced commitment and excellence in their work.
The CMD also praised key stakeholders for their contributions to this achievement and the success of his administration since his appointment as substantive CMD six months ago.
Among those acknowledged were Dr. Adedeji Adeleke; Osun State Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi; Yeye Dupe Sani-Adeleke; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; and Alhaji Hon. Kassim Akinleye, Chief of Staff to the Governor.
Others recognized include Alhaji Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, Secretary to the State Government; Elder Samuel Aina, Osun State Head of Service; the Commissioner for Health; the Special Adviser on Public Health; Barr. Hon. Niyi Owolade, Chairman of the UNIOSUN Board, and board members; as well as the management and staff of UTH, union leaders, and others.
Dr. Afolabi stated, “Our administration has enjoyed the support of this government since my appointment on October 31, 2024.
“This gesture is part of what Mr. Governor promised during his visit, and he has fulfilled it. He has also pledged to fulfill other commitments.
“Mr. Governor has once again proven that he is truly a man of his word — ‘Mr. Talk and Do.’ We must continue to pray for the success of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration. The people of Osun are indeed fortunate to have a leader like him at the helm of affairs.”
The affected staff who were elevated took turns to pray for Governor Adeleke and his cabinet members, expressing deep appreciation and invoking blessings for the success of his administration.
This development is expected to have a lasting impact on the lives of the affected workers, and the CMD’s appreciation underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare.
