Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has flagged off Imole mobile medical outreach programme in Iwo, Osun West senatorial district.
The Governor said the medical outreach programme was in line with his philosophy that ‘it takes a healthy nation to have a wealthy nation’, adding that his administration has resolved to continue to take necessary steps to improve the health of the people.
“One of the ways we plan to assist our people is to bring healthcare to their doorsteps. The current medical and surgical outreach programme is designed to achieve this.”
He said the outreach is designed to take care of surgical cases including Cataracts, Hernia and some swellings on the body, saying it will also take care of medical cases like Hypertension, Diabetes, Malaria and lots more.
“The government has provided adequate medications for this exercise and we shall make eye glasses available to those that may require them.
” Our administration earlier last week approved the periodic payment of salaries owed the workers. We are therefore convinced that our doctors and other health workers in the state are in a very high spirit. They are well- motivated to ensure the success of this programme” he added.
Governor Adeleke also hinted that his administration will soon come up with a robust medical agenda for the people of the state, assuring them of government’s commitment to improving their conditions by prioritizing public health and investing wisely in it.
“We are upgrading our health facilities and we are working on new ideas like telemedicine among others.
” I commend all members of the Committee and health workers under Professor Peter Babatunde Olaitan’s leadership for their sacrifices in this call to duty” he noted.
