The Governor of Osun State, Senator Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke, has expressed his appreciation for the proactive efforts of the Osun Amotekun Corps in ensuring a peaceful and secure environment during the recently concluded local government elections in the state.

The governor made these remarks during a meeting with the Forum of Chairmen of the State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIECs) at the Government House in Osogbo, following the declaration of the local government election results.

The forum, which included chairmen from various states across the country, gathered in the state to observe and witness the smooth conduct of the elections.

While commending the security outfit, the governor requested a round of applause for the Commander and highlighted the critical role of local security forces in maintaining peace and stability at the grassroots level.

He emphasized the importance of supporting state-based security initiatives, such as Amotekun, to safeguard the lives and property of citizens across the state.

Adeleke extended his gratitude to the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, as well as other members of the corps’ management and personnel.

He lauded their dedication to upholding the safety and well-being of the people of the state, assuring them of the government’s continued support.

The governor urged the Amotekun Corps to remain steadfast in their professionalism and commitment to protecting the citizens and residents of Osun, ensuring that the peace and security established during the election period are maintained in the future.

Despite the police not deploying personnel to various polling units, the Osun Amotekun Corps was deployed across the state, including Osogbo and all other local government areas, following the refusal of the police to participate fully in the elections.
