Adeleke urges peace, godliness as Ramadan begins

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has extended his felicitations to the Muslim ummah, both at home and abroad, as they commence the holy month of Ramadan.

He called for prayers to sustain peace and uphold godliness in national politics.

In a statement marking the beginning of the fasting period, Adeleke underscored the significance of godliness in both national politics and state governance.

He urged Muslim faithful to intercede on behalf of leaders, praying for their adherence to divine will, whether in or out of power.

Describing Ramadan as a time of spiritual renewal, the governor encouraged a deeper connection with the Creator through fasting and prayers, stressing that such devotion fosters complete submission to the will of Allah.

He also called for acts of kindness towards the less privileged, both during and after Ramadan.

The governor characterised the holy month as a period of intense communion with Almighty Allah through humanitarian deeds and penitence.

He urged Muslim faithful to seek divine forgiveness and the fulfilment of their aspirations.

“This year’s Ramadan coincides with current misunderstanding among the political elites in our dear state. It is therefore a time for sober reflection, reassessment of viewpoints and an attention to the place of Allah in securing and exiting from power.

“As we fast, we must accept the divine prescription that Almighty Allah gives power to whom he wills. He elevates and downgrades. No mortal can upturn the will of Allah.

“Believers in God should also remember that Allah is the best schemer and planner. They plan and Allah plans. Allah is supreme and any plan against Allah’s agenda can never materialise. We must return to God in our politicking and struggle for power,” Governor Adeleke stated.
