The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has technically accepted defeat with their consistent rigging allegation against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the party has said.

This assertion was made by the Ondo State Chairman of the APC, Mr Ade Adetimehin, while refuting the allegation of the PDP that it had perfected plans to rig the forthcoming general elections in the country.

Adetimehin who described the allegation as spurious and unfounded, reacted while speaking with The Hope at the Governor’s office in Akure yesterday.

It would be recalled that the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, recently, alleged that the APC was planning to rig the general elections.

Adetimehin countered that APC has been working tirelessly day and night at all levels of government to emerge victorious in the forthcoming poll.

He explained that President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the Presidential Candidate of the APC has visited more than half of the states in Nigeria campaigning for his re-election to enable him continue rebuilding the nation.

While emphatically saying that rigging was never part of APC’s winning strategy, he said Nigerians are satisfied with the achievements of the Buhari-led administration and are ever ready to re-elect him to continue rebuilding the country and take it to the next level of economic rejuvenation.

“Their rigging allegation is a sign of defeat for them. They are already envisaging defeat. It has dawn on them that they can not win the election and I expect them to begin to congratulate our party (APC), even before the election and have their name written in gold.

“The PDP had ruled this country for 16 years and had nothing to show for their stewardship. The same party ruled this state for 8 years and has nothing tangible to show for it.

“Within the spate of two years in office of the Akeredolu-led administration in Ondo state, we have done what other governors failed to achieve in terms of infrastructural development.

“As for me, I sympathize with them, because their ranting is a sign of defeat for them, but for us, we will continue to work harder for our victory in the forthcoming general elections”, he said.

Adetimehin assured that President Buhari will among other things, continue to build the country’s infrastructure, especially the road and rail sector, adding that he will relentlessly continue to tackle issues of poverty in the country through his administration’s Social Investment Programmes.
