Adetula thanks Akeredolu over opportunity to serve

The former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Owena Press Limited (OPL), publisher of The Hope newspaper, Sir Ademola Adetula has expressed his gratitude to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State for giving him the opportunity to contribute his quotas towards making the medium a toast of people in the South West.
Stating this in a meeting with the Management of the company during his handing over, he also appreciated God for preserving his life and the workers for their support and steadfastness.
Adetula noted that when he came on board in October 2018 as the Chairman/CEO of the company, The Hope status had nosedived and that there was dirth of a regional newspaper in the South West.
He added that efforts were made during his tenure which repositoned the status of the newspaper, boost the circulation and equally built reading goodwill among critical stakeholders in the state.
He said the medium was taken beyond propagating the achievements and activities of the state government to a medium the people of the South West and Ondo state in particular are proud of as their own.
According to him, his tenure was able to extend the newspaper’s coverage to some South West states by deploying correspondents and opening offices in Osun and Ekiti.
His words: We embarked on provision of good and reliable working tools for the staff with procurement and distribution of 10 Palm Tops for reporters to enhance quality reportage.
We also embarked on training of three Editorial Staff at FRCN Training School, Lagos, continuous in-house training through lectures and seminars for editorial and non-editorial staff and procurement of standard cameras for photographers .
We also made efforts towards providing conducive environment for the workers by tiling nine offices, extension of existing building to accommodate Newsroom and Account Staff, procurement of chairs and tables for offices and landscaping, drainage and interlocking of the company’s premises.
To bring about the quality production of the newspaper, the Editor-In-Chief said his administration procured generators and a motorcycle to strengthen its circulation.
On the welfare of the staff, he said 27 staffers whose promotions were long overdue were promoted.
He added that the newspaper was made more visible in the global scene through the upgrading of its internet facility.
Adetula however urged members of the company’s management and staff to continue to work in harmony and be focused so as to collectively move the organisation forward.
He particularly urged the Editor of the newspaper, Mr. Akin Adubuola, the most senior staff of the company he handed over to, to win the hearts of the staff and work in unison with them.
