The Federal Commissioner representing Ondo State on the board of the South-West Development Commission (SWDC), Dr. Femi Adewinle, has pledged a renewed drive for regional growth and economic integration across the South-West.

Speaking at a thanksgiving reception held in his honour at Ode-Aye, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Adewinle said the SWDC would serve as a catalyst for infrastructural renewal, youth empowerment, and agricultural advancement in the region.

He assured that the Commission would work closely with state governments, private investors, and local communities to tackle developmental challenges facing the South-West, particularly in education, industrialisation and rural development.

Adewinle commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating unwavering commitment to regional growth, describing his leadership as a continuation of Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s vision for prosperity in the South-West.

According to him, “The establishment of the South-West Development Commission under President Tinubu reflects a clear understanding of the historical vision of regional development championed by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. The Commission will serve as a platform to turn that vision into tangible progress for our people.”

He noted that his appointment was not a personal achievement but a call to serve the people of Ondo State and the South-West with dedication and integrity.

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, who was represented at the event, lauded President Tinubu for his foresight in setting up the Commission, stressing that the initiative would promote economic synergy among the South-West states.

Aiyedatiwa pledged Ondo State’s full cooperation with the SWDC to ensure effective implementation of regional development programmes, particularly those aimed at industrial growth and youth empowerment.

The event, which drew eminent personalities, traditional rulers, and political leaders from within and outside the state, was marked by expressions of goodwill and commendations for Adewinle’s contributions to community and national development.
