The Acting Provost of Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Dr Ajigbade Ikuejube, has administered the matriculation oath on 157 newly admitted Postgraduate, part-time Degree/Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) students.
The Acting Provost who was represented by the Registrar of the school, Mrs Olufisayo Fakorede explained that the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) programme, jointly organised by the College and the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), which started in 2016/ 2017 academic session in the College has trained hundreds of professional teachers.
He said be newly admitted PDE students were the fifth to be offered admission since the commencement of the ACE/TRCN collaboration.
Speaking further on the PDE programme and performances of students admitted over the years, Dr Ikuejube said “we have observed in successive sets of our PDE students, a tradition of high commitment and dedication to the programme,” while urging them to take their studies seriously.
In his goodwill message, the Registrar/Chief Executive of TRCN, Prof Olusegun Ajiboye, represented by the Ondo State Coordinator of the Council, Mr Adesina Akande, congratulated the matriculating students for choosing the PDE programme, while assuring that the certificate that would be issued to them, after their studies, could be used to process admission for Masters and Doctorate Degrees in field of Education in any University.
Advising the students to make judicious use of their time, Prof. Ajiboye appealed for the cooperation, stating that by joining hands with the TRCN, the partnership would help in sanitizing the teaching profession “thereby building a nation that will be self-relevant and habitable for all to live in”.
Earlier a similar matriculation ceremony was jointly held for students admitted for Part-time Degree and Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) Sandwich programmes.
