The appointment of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye II, the Olowo of Owo, as the new chairman of the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers has been met with widespread applause and celebration, particularly from notable leaders across Ondo State.

One of them, Hon. (Dr.) Olumuyiwa Adu, popularly known as Adu Cubana and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), described the news of the appointment as one that swept across the state “with the scent of a sweet-smelling fragrance.”

He noted that the Olowo’s reign had been marked by dedication to harmony, enterprise, and mutual understanding among the sons and daughters of Owo, both at home and abroad.

According to Adu fondly called by admirers as Adu Cubana, the monarch’s new responsibility as Chairman of the Council is fitting, following his consistent efforts in promoting peace and unity.

He also lauded the outgoing Chairman, the Deji of Akure, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun II, describing him as a highly respected royal father who bears a legacy of service and dedication to the advancement of the traditional institution.

Adu extended profound gratitude to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for his foresight and wisdom in appointing the Olowo to this prestigious position.

“I am enthused at the unity of purpose with which our traditional rulers relate and work together for the peace, progress, and security of all residents of Ondo State, beginning with their respective communities,” he also stated.

Also speaking on the appointment, a US-based Nigerian medic, Dr. Marindoti Oludare commended the choice as a “well-deserved” recognition of Oba Gbadegesin’s leadership qualities and unwavering commitment to the growth of traditional institutions in both Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.

Marindoti similarly appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for entrusting such a critical role to a visionary monarch like the Olowo of Owo.

He expressed strong optimism that the Council of Obas will experience further progress under the new leadership.

“Oba (Dr.) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye II, aside from being a revered traditional ruler, is a seasoned technocrat, a retired administrator, and currently serves as the Chancellor of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Bubara, Jigawa State.

“His blend of royal wisdom and administrative experience is expected to usher in a new era of leadership within the Council,” Marindoti applauded.
