T  he third edition of the Adu Unity Football Competition continued with thrilling encounters as United Army walloped Yakoma FA 4–1 at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.

Olapade Emmanuel fired United Army ahead early in the first half, setting the tone for a dominant display.

At the restart, Olamide Taiwo doubled the lead for his side before Shedrack Chidi reduced the deficit minutes later.

However, Segun Oni and Segun Joseph added a goal each to seal a convincing 4–1 victory for Akure United.

In the second match of the day, a brace from George Ajayi lifted Idanre United above NSCDC, while Okoro George and Ibrahim Oladosu were on target for Olukayode FC, who defeated Signature FC 2–0.

It ended 1–1 between King City and Velocity FC in a Group B clash, with Ilesanmi Babatunde and Adekayero Damilola scoring for their respective teams.

Barrack Eagles lost narrowly 0–1 to Ijapo Ages Stars FC, with Greg Eric scoring a stunning free kick from outside the box—his second goal of the tournament.

Celecal Stars FC edged out Amazing FA 1–0 in a battle for the top of Group B, thanks to a decisive strike from Ola Joseph.

It was a goal fest between Eagles FC and Young Kings, as Owoeye Steven and Tope John scored in the first half before Olorunfemi Babatunde and Ajetumobi Lakan increased the tally to four.

Despite Jamiu Tajudeen’s brace for Young Kings, the game ended 4–2 in favour of Eagles FC.

In another high-scoring encounter, Ebile FC outclassed Shinning FC 5–2 in a seven-goal thriller.

Ibrahim Michael and Mussani Daniel both bagged braces before Michael added another to complete his hat-trick.

Goals from Osho Dayo and Idowu Akinbamiwa were not enough for Shinning Stars FC to get a point.

Chairman of the LOC for the third Adu Unity Football Competition, Raymond Abdulsalam, commended all participating teams for their cooperation and impressive displays.

“I thank all the participating teams. They all paraded good sides, and this competition shows that there is abundant football talent in the state,” Abdulsalam said.

“We will ensure that outstanding players receive the necessary support to excel in their playing careers.”
