Eminent personalities in Ondo state have set agenda for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, calling on him to raise the bar of performance above his predecessors’ feats.
They also called on the Governor to be above board and sustain the sterling legacy and outstanding achievements of the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
In separate interviews, the Ondo State Chairman of the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organisation, Afenifere, Chief Korede Duyile; the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Victor Amoko and his TUC counterpart, Comrade Clement Fatuase, charged Aiyedatiwa to initiate people’s oriented projects that could put smiles on the faces of the people of the state.
Duyile explained that Afenifere will soon meet with Governor Aiyedatiwa to have a discussion with him, saying it will not be proper to be discussing the issues on the pages of newspaper.
He, however, advised the Governor to continue with the projects initiated by late Governor Akeredolu.
“Our governor will have to continue with the projects initiated by his former principal, late Akeredolu. I’m talking about the projects that will improve the lives of the people, ” he said.
Duyile added that Governor Aiyedatiwa must pay attention to security and strengthen Amotekun Corps. “He must pay attention to healthcare development, agriculture, education, youth employment, among other critical areas.
“We have many other things to discuss with him that we cannot discuss on the pages of newspaper now, “he stressed.
In their separate remarks, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Victor Amoko and his TUC counterpart, Comrade Clement Fatuase charged Governor Aiyedatiwa to sustain the good relationship between government and labour unions and be worker-friendly Governor.
They also expect the governor to perform more than late Akeredolu because he was under his tutelage.
Amoko said “he was a chosen person as his deputy governor when Akeredolu was alive and I believe there is need for them to have some things in common in terms of governance. So, our expectation is, late Governor Akeredolu was called “Mr talk and do”, we expect Aiyedatiwa to be Mr talk and do too in bringing a very robust relationship between the workers and the government of Ondo State.
“We are not looking for contracts nor political positions, ours is that let us have our promotion as at when due, let our salary come to us, give us everything that belongs to us, and let our gratuity and pensioners not be forgotten or starve to death.”
On his part, Comrade Fatuase advised Governor Aiyedatiwa not to deny workers of their rights.
“This is election season in Ondo State and I’m not the only one that will be expecting so much from them. I don’t know who is going to win the primary election in their party because I’m not a politician,” he said.
“My expectations is that if they are paying salaries, if they don’t owe pensioners, if they give promotion, we don’t have any problem with them, we don’t need contract from them.
“The very day they fail or plan to owe us, we will not wait until one governor leaves before we start creating problem for them. I will not love any governor that is going to deny us our own right.
“That they are paying our salary is not a big deal, that’s their responsibilities, and when they are paying, some people will be celebrating them. I’m not a friend of anybody that will deny us of our right”, the TUC chairman added.
