The Akure Airport wore a carnival-like atmosphere on Thursday evening as Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and his Deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, arrived from Abuja to a tumultuous welcome from jubilant Akure residents.

Recall that Aiyedatiwa and his deputy had on Wednesday received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja.

Jubilant supporters gathered at the Akure Airport in large numbers, chanting songs, drumming, and dancing to celebrate the governor and his deputy’s successful election.

Addressing the crowd at the Airport, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the people of Ondo State, emphasising that the victory belonged to them all.

“I am overwhelmed with joy and thank God Almighty for making this possible. I also appreciate the people of Ondo State for renewing this mandate through their votes,” he said.

The governor also extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring a level playing field during the election.

He also commended the State APC Chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin, and other party leaders at both the state and national levels for their support.

Governor Aiyedatiwa called on the people of Ondo State to continue to support his administration, assuring them of policies that prioritize their welfare.

“We will always prioritize the interests of the people, double our efforts to ensure comfort for all, and work towards the development of every sector in the State,” he stated.
