The Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, has administered the matriculation oath on 4,046 students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Describing the event as “another special day in the history of the university,” the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Akintunde, congratulated the new intakes.
“You have been admitted into the foremost and best teacher training institution in Nigeria. Hence, you should recognise the full worth of the privilege of gaining admission into this great citadel of learning,” he told the students.
“You should be proud that you are about to begin the journey of joining the database of very important people who have graduated from this citadel of knowledge as you take the matriculation oath,” he added.
Prof. Akintunde further reminded the students that the oath is a binding agreement between them and the institution.
“Be informed that your matriculation oath is a legal bond between you and this university that you will be a good ambassador within and outside its campus.
“You have just signed an agreement with the university to be under the rules and regulations guiding your studentship. Please note that you are liable to receive appropriate sanctions for any act of yours found to be antithetical to the oath you have taken,” he said.
He cautioned the matriculating students against indulging in social vices such as rape, drug abuse, cultism, assault, indecent dressing, gangsterism, stealing, wilful damage to university property, and examination malpractices.
Prof. Akintunde also commended members of the University Admissions Committee, alongside staff of the Division of Senate Matters and Admissions, under the leadership of Mr Oladele Olufemi Balogun, for what he described as a job well done.
He expressed appreciation to the Ondo State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), who represented the Registrar of the agency, Prof. Ishaq Olarewaju Oloyede, at the event.
