A 100-level student of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, Duro Adeyemi Favour, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his girlfriend, Fajinmi Oluwatosin Florence over the misuse of his girlfriend school fee.

According to a source from the university’s security unit, who requested anonymity, the incident occurred on March 19, 2025, at Road 4, Powerline Ajagbale Road, Oka, Ondo Town.

The source disclosed to The Hope that the victim, Fajinmi Oluwatosin Florence, lodged a complaint of attempted murder against her boyfriend, Duro Adeyemi Favour. Following an investigation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime.

Investigations revealed that Florence had instructed her parents to transfer N108,000 her school fees to her boyfriend’s Opay account. However, instead of keeping the money for its intended purpose, Favour allegedly spent it.

In a desperate bid to avoid returning the money, he lured Florence to his apartment under the pretense of performing a miracle.

“Upon her arrival, he asked her to close her eyes and count from one to ten. During this process, he attempted to strangle her,” the security officer explained.

However, Florence fought back, biting his hand before managing to escape.

The suspect has since been handed over to the Fagun Police Division, Ondo, for further investigation.
