Again, EfCC arrests 34 ‘Yahoo yahoo’ boys in Ondo

As the unwholesome activities of suspected internet fraudsters, popularly called ‘Yahoo yahoo’ continue, no fewer than 34 young boys have been apprehended by operatives of Economic and financial Crimes Commission, EfCC, in Ondo State.
The suspects whose ages range between 19 to 21 were nabbed at various locations in Owo local Government area of the state, during an extra-ordinary operation carried out by the operatives.
It would be recalled that last month about 10 suspected internet fraudsters (yahoo boys) were arrested at Oba-Ile area of the state and were subsequently whisked away to Ibadan Zonal office of the commission for investigation.
Reports reaching the Hope Metro indicated that the recent arrest was carried out by operatives from Benin Zonal office headquarters who acted on information.
The Hope Metro investigation revealed that the operatives stormed some popular hotels in Owo where the suspected fraudsters were taking refuge and arrested them.
They were handcuffed before putting them inside their Hummer bus and drove them to an unknown destination.
An eyewitness account said the operatives impounded their vehicles and seized their laptops and other suspected gadgets they use to defraud their unsuspecting victims.
It was learnt that, the development had made some of them in Akure to abandon their exotic cars while they continue to disguise and move around with taxi and Okada around the town in a bid to avoid arrest.The police while assuring the good people of Ekiti State that the command’s fight against cultism and other criminal activities in the State will continue until they are brought to zero, enjoins everyone to cooperate and support the Police in the fight against crimes by providing timely and useful information that could help in flushing out the criminal elements in the society.
