Honourable (Dr) Princess Oreoluwa Agbayewa, Vice Chairman of the Standup for Women Society (SWS), has received a Special Recognition Award at the Distinguished Teachers Hall of Fame ceremony held in Akure on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
The event, which took place at the Pharmacy House, Alagbaka, was organised to honour teachers who have contributed significantly to national development through education.
Princess Agbayewa, a retired principal and lecturer at the Distance Learning Centre of Bamidele Olumilua University of Science and Technology, was recognised for her years of service and contributions to human capital development.
Convener of the event and publisher of News Connect Magazine, Comrade Taiwo Adebayo Gold, described the initiative as a divine mandate aimed at promoting excellence in education.
“God told me that change in the education sector would start with me. Today, I am grateful to see the fruits. The quality of awardees this year, recommended by bodies like ASSUS and ANCOPSS, encourages us to keep raising the flag of excellence,” he said.

He added that the Distinguished Teachers Hall of Fame would be an annual event, with plans for more innovative programmes by News Connect Magazine in the future.
Comrade Adebayo appreciated media partners, stakeholders, and supporters for their contributions to the success of the maiden edition.
