‘Agbede is YCE President-General’

The Yoruba Council of Elders YCE, Ondo State Chapter has refuted the allegation credited to its National Secretary, Dr Kunle Olajide that there was no substantive President-General of the council

The council insisted that Col Samuel Agbede from Ondo has been appointed and confirmed as the substantive President-General of YCE since August, 2018 at its NEC meeting

The council according to a statement signed by its Ondo State Chairman and Secretary , Chief Anthony Meraiyebu and Elder Festus Akinyeke said Col Samuel Agbede Rtd was appointed interim President at its NEC meeting held in Ibadan on March, 23, 2018 after the death of its President-General, Chief Idowu Sofola SAN and confirmed on August 28, 2018

The statement read ” To state it clearly for the entire members worldwide, all members were in the National Executive meeting of YCE  at the National Headquarters at Ibadan where Rtd Colonel Samuel Agbede was unanimously appointed to be the interim President of YCE as a result of the demise of our immediate past President-General, late Chief Idowu Sofola

As a result of his performance since March 23, 2018  Colonel Samuel Agbede (Rtd) was confirmed the President General of YCE by elders above 80 years of age on the 28th of August, 2018

Those present at the meeting according to the statement included Prof Tunde Oluwasanmi, Barr A. A. Akinremi, Prof Mrs Adetoun Ogunsheye Chief Ajibade Oyekan among others

The statement submitted that for Dr Kunle Olajide to say that the council has no substantive President General is a fallacy

It will be recalled that Dr Kunle Olajide has said that the council is yet to have a substantive President while addressing Journalists in Ibadan.
