Agbekoya, Amotekun join forces to tackle crime in Osun

The Agbekoya Society, a Yoruba security group, Osun State chapter, yesterday solicited the cooperation of the Amotekun Corps in addressing crime issues.
They emphasised that effective crime detection, control, and protection require the involvement of all stakeholders. As such, there is an urgent need to safeguard the territorial boundaries of the South-West zone of the nation.
The group made this statement during a courtesy visit to the Amotekun Corps Commander, Dr Hon. Adekunle Omoyele, at his office in Osogbo.
The group expressed their commitment to collaborating with Amotekun to combat crime in the state.
The visit, led by their leader, Chief Ayodele Gabriel, aimed to strengthen ties and foster a mutually beneficial relationship between Agbekoya and Amotekun, with the ultimate goal of enhancing security and prosperity in Osun State.
The group praised Amotekun’s efforts in maintaining peace and security in Osun State over the past few months and sought to explore areas of collaboration.
Responding, the Corps Commander said, “I see this visit as a platform to explore potential areas of collaboration and mutual support.” He added that building bridges between their organisations would enhance their collective efforts towards a more secure and prosperous Osun State.
“I look forward to a productive relationship as the Amotekun operatives are ready to join forces with you to eradicate crime in Osun State,” he said.
In a vote of thanks, the Agbekoya group commended Omoyele for his 35 years of meritorious service in the Nigeria Police, which led to his appointment by Osun State Governor, Senator Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, as the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps. They wished Dr Omoyele success in his office.
Dr Omoyele appreciated the group for their visit and assured them of his support and collaboration with all security agencies in the state, as directed by Governor Senator Asiwaju Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.
