Agent in court over fraud

A 35-year-old house agent, Shittu Adeyinka, have been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding two persons of the sum of N94,000.
The accused person committed the offence on December 24, 2018, at Temidire Estate, Osogbo.
The prosecutor, ASP Fagboyinbo Abiodun, said that the accused person, who claimed to be a house agent, collected N50, 000 from the complainant, Mr Joseph David, to get an apartment for him, under false pretence.
He said the accused person also collected N44,000 from one Olusola Omoniyi to get him an apartment, but failed to do so.
The offence was said to contravene sections 419, 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Osun, 2002.
Adeyinka, who is facing a four-count charge bordering on stealing and fraud, said he did not commit the offence.
The defence counsel, Mrs Bose Dada, prayed the court to grant her client bail in most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mr Ola Olagoke, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum.
Olagoke said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should show evidence of tax payment to Osun Government.
He adjourned the case till May 28, 2019 for mention.
