AGFD hosts AEK Larnaca coach

In a bid to develop grassroots football in Nigeria and in Africa at  large, the African Grassroot Football  Development (AGFD) has played host to AEK Larnaca  of Cyprus under 17 coach, Mr Sunny Kingsley in Akure .

To this end , the AGFD has put together a formidable  professionals from sports arena to discover and nurture youths with in the age of 13

The President of AGFD , Mr Moruf Adams while welcoming the Nigerian born Cyprus coach, expressed the aims of the body which includes the discovery and development of talented footballer from the scratch .

He said the target of AGFD was to catch the kids  young for onward transfer to AEK Larnaca to make them professionals football players .

“We believe in grassroots football development that is why we put this professional together to develop the round leather game from the scratch “, he said.

Adams added that the AGFD is preparing a tournament for Nigeria President Muhammod Buhari of which the president has given his nod.

The tournament will kick off by September this year, it will give them the confidence in a foreign land  as against what we had during our past experience.

He said: “this gathering was to normalise our partnership with AEK Larnaca of Cyprus FC.”

While responding the Cyprus Nigerian  born UEFA licence A and B coach , Mr Sunny Kingsley said he was elated with what he met on ground, saying  his club has agreed  to partner with African Grassroot Football Development (AGFD) to develop football in Nigeria and in Africa at large.

According to him, ours is not to develop the talents alone but to also develop the coaches , with what I’m seeing here we are ready to teach the teachers also, I can see this project cut across the  whole African countries.

“With the structure on ground surely the sky will be the starting point”, he said.

He said, “We are going to give a structure that will work in Africa, because we don’t believe in giving a European program that will not work for a particular continent, that is why I’m here in Nigeria as representative of the  club.

“I see a lot of potentials over there in Europe that is why I’m here to support the grassroots football to break the European football barrier”.
