AGFD to discover talents from schools –President

The African Grassroots Football Development has sought for the partnership of the Ondo State Ministry of Education on the need to discover under-15 young talents footballers at the grassroots across the state.
The AGFD programme tagged Buhari/Osinbajo Competition is a grassroots football development with the aim to discover youths in public schools across the 18 Local Government areas and groom them to football professional level.
Speaking during the visit of the members of the AGFD to the Ministry, the President of the body, Mr. Maruf Adams, said the initiative was programmed to catch talented youths in football in the state, across the country and worldwide.
Represented by his Vice, Chief Wande Fabuluje, the president explained that the group will go round the state to pick talented youths in public schools, adding that the initiative will be extended to under 20 athletes byAGFD.
According to him, the programme will not be aborted as experienced in the past, necessary measures have been put in place to sustain the new initiative.
Responding, the Director of Schools Service in the Ministry, Mr. Fola Dara, assured the members of the grassroot football development of the ministry support on the initiative.
He advised them on the need to get other reliable sponsors to sustain the programme.
Dara, who further advised them to ensure financial implication is not involved to discourage schools and students from the initiative said the programme should also be arranged not to clash with school examinations for active participation of the students.
On his part, the Deputy Director of Schools Sports, Mr. Jide Fawolu appreciated the members of the development for the initiative.
