Agu’s market value soars after Super Eagles debut

Werder Bremen fullback Felix Agu has reached a career-high market value after making his Super Eagles debut during the 2025 Unity Cup.

As the summer transfer window gains momentum, transfer market and statistics website Transfermarkt has updated the valuations of players in the Bundesliga, with Felix Agu now valued at €8 million (approximately ₦14.3 billion).

This marks a €2 million increase from his previous valuation. Prior to the update, he was valued at €6 million, but his impressive performance during the season and debut for Nigeria in the Unity Cup tournament contributed to the recent increase.

Agu, who had a brilliant campaign with Werder Bremen, switched allegiance to Nigeria, despite making two appearances for Germany at U21 level.

His defensive prowess has been evident all season, as the fullback consistently contributed at both ends of the pitch for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, playing a key role in their attacking transitions and defensive stability.

Agu scored three goals in 22 league appearances for Werder Bremen, who narrowly missed out on European qualification, finishing eighth—just one point behind Mainz, who claimed the final European spot.

Born in Germany, the 25-year-old opted to feature for Nigeria on the international level, making his debut for the Super Eagles against Jamaica in the final of the Unity Cup tournament.

After catching the eye of manager Eric Chelle on his Nigeria debut, he was in line for a place in the squad travelling to Moscow for Friday’s friendly against Russia, but was ultimately left out due to visa complications.
