In a bid to tighten security, the newly deployed Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 17, Akure, AIG Musibau Ajani, has reached out to the traditional institution, seeking strategic collaboration to tackle criminality in the zone.
Ajani who is in charge of Ondo and Ekiti States, visited the palace of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi (Odundun II), as part of his familiarisation tour.
The AIG said his mission was to foster stronger community-police relations through the involvement of royal fathers in security initiatives.
According to him, the fight against insecurity requires a collective front, stressing that he would not remain behind closed doors while communities face threats.
“I didn’t come here to sit idle in the office. I am ready to work and make sure criminal elements have no hiding place in our communities,” he assured.
Oba Aladetoyinbo in his response, commended the police chief’s proactive stance and reiterated the traditional institution’s readiness to support security agencies in maintaining law and order.
The monarch described peace as non-negotiable for development, urging the police to intensify efforts in protecting lives and property.
He pledged his full cooperation, declaring that his palace remains open at all times to support the police in their duties.
