Determined to deepen grassroots security operations and promote people-oriented policing, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 17, Omolabi Ajani , has advocated for a stronger synergy between the police and traditional institutions.
In a statement issued by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, ASP Desmond Sosanya, the police chief’s visit was described as part of a broader mission to integrate traditional leadership into the zone’s security framework.
Ajani made the call during a strategic visit to the palace of the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba (Dr) Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, Jilo III, where he highlighted the need for traditional rulers to play more active roles in intelligence gathering and conflict resolution.
The Osemawe, in his remarks, hailed the initiative as timely and commendable, noting that traditional institutions are not only custodians of culture but also vital agents in maintaining law and order.
He applauded the efforts of the Zone 17 Command in ensuring peace and stability and pledged the support of Ondo Kingdom in strengthening local security mechanisms.
