West and Central Africa’s largest carrier, Air Peace and its Chairman, Dr. Ifechukwu Onyema, have been honoured for their outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s aviation and transport industry at the Nigerian Institute of Transport and Logistics (NITL) Annual Excellence Awards held at NICON Hotel, Abuja.
At the prestigious event, Air Peace won the Airline of the Year award, while Dr. Onyema received the Trailblazer Award in Transport and Logistics. Both honours highlight the airline’s remarkable achievements and the visionary leadership driving its continued growth and innovation.
The Airline of the Year award recognises Air Peace’s operational excellence, customer-focused innovations, and steady expansion across domestic, regional and international routes.
Among its major milestones is the recent launch of the Abuja-London Heathrow service, making it the first Nigerian airline to operate direct flights between the nation’s capital and the United Kingdom’s busiest airport.
This historic feat has earned widespread commendation for strengthening Nigeria’s global air connectivity, promoting trade and showcasing the nation’s aviation capacity on the world stage.

Similarly, the Trailblazer Award conferred on Onyema celebrates his visionary leadership, strategic foresight and dedication to the advancement of Nigeria’s aviation and logistics sectors. His relentless efforts have expanded the nation’s global aviation footprint while inspiring renewed confidence in indigenous enterprise.
These recognitions further reinforce Air Peace’s position as a trailblazer in African aviation, driven by innovation, safety and a steadfast commitment to excellence.
