Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has assured residents that all ongoing road projects across the state will be completed as scheduled, despite delays caused by the rainy season.
The governor gave the assurance on Sunday night at the Sound of Grace Concert held at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park, Akure, where he also attributed the prevailing peace in the state to divine grace and the collective faith of the people.
“These are not quick-fix projects. The contractors are on site, and they will deliver. We only need patience,” Aiyedatiwa said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to quality service and inclusive governance.
“This government belongs to you. You voted for it and you can claim it. You only put me here to serve you and service I will give,” he declared.
The governor, who joined thousands of worshippers at the concert, described the gathering as a spiritual event that reflected God’s mercy upon Ondo State.
He said the state’s harmony and progress were evidence of divine favour, noting that “when a man honours a vow made to God, heaven responds.”
The Sound of Grace Concert was organised by the Chief Executive Officer of G-Sound, Opeyemi Idiowo, as the fulfilment of a vow he made to God twenty-five years ago after a childhood disappointment that birthed a lifelong mission.
Aiyedatiwa commended Idiowo for his faith, perseverance, and dedication to service, recalling that the sound engineer had remained consistent and professional over the years.
“He made a vow when he saw a need that people should gather to worship and praise God. Today, we are witnesses to the fulfilment of that vow. This is proof that God honours those who honour Him,” the governor said.
He also praised G-Sound for embracing local innovation, noting that all the equipment used for the concert were produced in Akure.
“During my campaign, G-Sound handled everything, all the sound systems across the local governments. We didn’t go outside for help. He did it professionally and I remain grateful,” Aiyedatiwa said.
“Everything used tonight was made here in Akure. This is what it means to believe in our people. When we build locally, we grow together,” he added.
The governor further appreciated the church community for its continuous prayers, saying spiritual intercession had sustained the state’s peace and unity.
“Ondo State remains one of the most peaceful in the country because the church is standing in the gap, praying for the government and our people,” he said.
Earlier, Idiowo narrated how the vision for Sound of Grace began twenty-five years ago when a worship event failed due to lack of sound equipment, prompting him to make a vow to God.
“I went to a corner and knelt before God. I said, ‘Your people are disappointed because there is no equipment, but if You can give me this equipment, I will use it to glorify You,’” he recalled. “That disappointment, the devil will pay for it.”
He said the concert represented the fulfilment of that promise, noting that all equipment used were locally produced in Akure.
“Everything you see here is from Akure, not from outside. Akure is a blessed land. God has been faithful. Nothing is lost, nothing is broken,” he declared.
Among dignitaries in attendance were the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi; Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabintan; Director-General, OSRC Media Group, Kenneth Odusola; Chairman, Akure South Local Government, Gbenga Fasua; Bishop Felix Adejumo; Pastor John Collins; and Prophet Samson Ogunmodede, among other religious leaders.
