Aiyedatiwa dissolves Ondo football board, names caretaker

By Adedotun Ajayi

The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the dissolution of the management board of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), with immediate effect.

This was contained in a statement signed by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, on April 9, 2025.

In a move that has taken many by surprise, Governor Aiyedatiwa relieved the Executive Chairman of the Board, Mr. Dele Ologun, and all other members of their duties. The affected individuals have been directed to hand over all government properties in their possession to the accounting officer of the agency.

In a bid to ensure continuity and address the management needs of the Sunshine Stars Football Club, the Governor has swiftly approved the establishment of a caretaker committee. The new committee will oversee the day-to-day affairs of the club, with Mr. Tokunbo Akinyelure appointed as the Team Manager and Welfare Officer.

The full list of the caretaker committee members includes:

  1. Morris Kwaghzever – Special Duties
  2. Abdul Wahab – Kits Manager
  3. Elias Michael – Masseur
  4. Adetula Olumide – Physiotherapist
  5. Ayodeji Abe – Camp Commandant
  6. Ademola Ayodeji – Assistant Kits Manager 1
  7. Oria Sola – Assistant Kits Manager 2
  8. Imisi Ayodele – Curator
  9. Isaac Afolabi – Media Officer

The newly formed caretaker committee will be accountable to the Office of the State Governor, which will closely monitor its activities and ensure the club’s smooth functioning.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has charged the caretaker team with the critical responsibility of improving the fortunes of the Sunshine Stars Football Club, urging them to work diligently to restore the club to its former glory.
