The Ondo State Governor and APC flag bearer, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, continued his re-election campaign with a significant visit to Ondo town on Friday, receiving strong support from the local community and the council of traditional rulers.
The governor’s engagement comes ahead of the November 16 election and highlights his focus on addressing local development issues.
At the palace of the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Dr. Oba Victor Kiladejo, who represented the traditional rulers, commended Aiyedatiwa for his dedication to the development of Ondo State.
“We deeply appreciate your honour in appointing me as Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) and for the various development projects across Ondo State,” the monarch said.
Dr. Oba Kiladejo also praised the governor’s commitment to the Ita Nla to Awoyaya road project and urged that construction be expedited to meet community needs. Reflecting on recent flooding that affected Ondo town, he remarked, “Your support during the unfortunate flood was invaluable to our people.”
The monarch further called on Aiyedatiwa to address critical infrastructure gaps, particularly in township and rural roads, noting, “We hope you will assist with rehabilitating our rural roads, enabling our farmers to bring their produce into town.”
Additionally, he raised ongoing electricity issues in Bolorunduro, appealing for intervention: “With your intervention, we know the darkness that has plagued our community can finally end.”
In his response, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for the council’s support and unity in backing his leadership. “I am truly grateful to see the council area speaking with one voice in support of continuity; the love and commitment shown by the people today is overwhelming. I urge you to transform this support into votes on Election Day,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa assured the council that their requests were being considered, with some projects already underway.
He underscored the purpose of his state-wide tour, explaining, “My primary reason for visiting each community is to personally observe the needs, so they can be incorporated into the 2025 budget for immediate action.”
The traditional council offered prayers and blessings for Aiyedatiwa’s success in the upcoming election.
Earlier, the governor officially inaugurated the refurbished Ife Garage Motor Park in Ondo, a project driven by Hon. Dr. Peter Abiola Makinde, representing Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency.
The event marked a significant step in enhancing transportation infrastructure in the area.
