Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, eminent Nigerians, family and associates on Monday held service of songs and tribute for late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as part of the activities marking his burial arrangements.

The service of songs and tribute was held at Jogor event centre Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has described the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu leadership as the voice of the voiceless, citing his pivotal role in establishing the Amotekun security outfit. 

Fayemi emphasized Akeredolu’s inclusive ethos, noting his disregard for regional differences and unwavering commitment to truth. 

He fondly remembered Governor Akeredolu as a versatile individual, equally at ease in church choirs and lively gatherings. 

“Akeredolu was versatile, engaging in diverse activities that reflected his connection with different groups. Whether singing with church choirs or gyrating with the kegites, he embraced people from all walks of life, irrespective of their beliefs or backgrounds.” 

“Akeredolu advocated for the marginalized, passionately championing causes he believed in without fear, driven by his love for his people’s safety and security. 

He fearlessly supported initiatives like the Amotekun security outfit, which has since become a formidable force. It brings joy knowing he lived to see the impactful contributions of Amotekun, ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities.”

“Akeredolu viewed all Nigerians as equals, never discriminating based on region. He embraced everyone with equal love and refused to entertain rumors; instead, he openly exposed gossipers and consistently upheld the truth.”

Fayemi urged continued advocacy for the people’s welfare in Akeredolu’s memory, mourning the loss of a great man and offering prayers for his eternal peace.

Earlier in his sermon titled: “Living Each Day as if it’s the Last Day on Earth,” the venerable Dr. S.F.O Jolayemi urged congregants to embrace life fully by prioritizing a relationship with God. 

Stressing the transient nature of worldly possessions, he emphasized the importance of fearing God, citing it as the foundation of wisdom. 

Jolayemi condemned corruption, highlighting its eternal consequences, and encouraged adherence to God’s commandments.

He praised Governor Akeredolu’s devotion to God and urged his family to emulate his example. The service concluded with prayers for the bereaved family.

In a tribute to his Dad, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Jr. poured out his emotions, recalling poignant memories that now flood his mind.

“At first, i harbored resentment towards Fela’s music, as my father’s unwavering admiration for the legend filled the house. Yet, as time unfolded, that initial disdain blossomed into a profound love, a shared bond that now stands as a cherished legacy of our time together”

“With a heavy heart, I acknowledge the daunting task of filling my father’s monumental shoes, I acknowledge the magnitude of the role my father played in my life” he whispered words of gratitude, acknowledging his father as the epitome of paternal love and guidance.

He uttered a final, heartfelt declaration: “I will miss you, Dad. More than words could ever express. Rest in peace, knowing that your love will forever live on in my heart.”
