Aiyedatiwa inspects road projects, vows speedy completion

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, today, led a high-level delegation, including the Deputy Chief of Staff, Omojuwa Olusegun, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tayo Oluwatuyi
Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele and officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Works, on an inspection tour of ongoing projects across the state.

Recall that some few weeks ago, Aiyedatiwa ordered contractors handling road projects across the state to immediately return to sites and ensure the timely completion of projects.

Aiyedatiwa gave the directive at a meeting between the contractors and the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, headed by the Permanent Secretary, Allen Idowu.

Today during inspection at the site of the Oda road construction, Engr. Allen Idowu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure overseeing the project, expressed optimism about the progress. He noted that the project has gained momentum, with contractors resuming work following the governor’s encouragement. Idowu affirmed that significant strides have been made, attributing the improved pace to well-organized mobilization efforts. He announced a promising outlook, with the first phase of the project slated for completion within the next two months.

In response, Aiyedatiwa emphasized on his commitment to fulfilling the late governor’s vision by prioritizing the completion of unfinished projects. He emphasized the importance of delivering the Oda road before the onset of the rainy season, pledging government support to ensure timely completion. Aiyedatiwa reiterated the administration’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure for the benefit of all citizens.

The inspection also included a visit to the flyover construction site from Onyearugbulem to Shagari. Engr. Allen Idowu provided updates, highlighting significant progress in the construction of the flyover. He outlined the completion of foundation work and the erection of piers, indicating a 40% completion milestone. Notably, provisions have been made for future dualization, demonstrating foresight in infrastructure planning.

Gbeleaje Community representative, Mr. Bunmi Falodun, commended the government’s proactive approach to the project execution. Expressing gratitude for the accelerated pace of construction, Falodun pledged community support and solidarity with the governor’s future endeavors.

Governor Aiyedatiwa in response reiterated the administration’s commitment to alleviating traffic congestion and improving connectivity with the flyover project. He acknowledged the late governor’s initiative in initiating the project and assured prompt completion. Aiyedatiwa commended the dedication of contractors and assured the community of timely project delivery.

As the inspection concluded, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed the government’s resolve to prioritize infrastructure development and deliver on its promises for the betterment of Ondo State.
