A group, Care Movement for Good Governance (CMGG), has declared its unwavering support for the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the forthcoming governorship primary and general election in the state.
The group also expressed its confidence in the Governor, saying Aiyedatiwa is providing leadership at all levels in the state, even as it promised to step up its aggressive sensitisation and mobilization of the good people of the state for Aiyedatiwa’s victory at the polls.
The group which was made up of politicians, professionals, artisans, and religious organizations across the 18 local government areas of the state, drummed support for the actualization of the governor’s victory, saying Governor Aiyedatiwa has done well in education, health, road construction, improved welfare of workers and the general wellbeing of the citizenry.
Speaking during an interview with The Hope in Akure on Tuesday, the CMGG Coordinator and legal practitioner, Dr. Akin Ogunsakin, said the state has experienced transformational leadership under the Governor Aiyedatiwa, adding that the people of the state should rally round him to ensure continuity of his outstanding achievements.
Ogunsakin, an All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain from Ogbagi Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government said the group’s mandate is to mobilize the people for good governance in the state, and has promised Ayedatiwa its full support to ensure the continuity of his commendable efforts.
The legal practitioner added that the CMGG had been in existence for couple of years, and played an enormous role the emergence of the late Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
He noted that, “Aiyedatiwa has improved infrastructural development in the state and has brought renewed vigour into governance. We are convinced that Governor Aiyedatiwa is ready to deliver the dividends of good governance to the people of the state.
“Since the creation of this state in 1976, there has been a lot of governments and some of them have done well and have left their footprints, but we have seen greatness in the Governor Aiyedatiwa to perform better”.
Ogunsakin equally lauded late Akeredolu, saying the late Governor did well, and that the good work he had started must continue.
“As a group we don’t want to be cajoled before we support anybody, we have seen some clear steps taken by the Governor and we are convinced that he is the best man for the job
“As people begin to show interest in the forthcoming primary and general elections, the group is telling the people of the state that as we have seen a better hand in late Akeredolu, we are waiting for the best hand in which the group sagaciously believes that Aiyedatiwa is the best candidate.
“We also believe that Aiyedatiwa is a man of destiny, and the group strongly held that what late Akeredolu has done, we are convinced Ayedatiwa will do better.
“We want to say loud and clear, that after considering so many things, we have seen Aiyedatiwa as the best option to continue as the Governor of our dear state. Consequently, we call on all well-meaning Ondo State indigenes to join us.
Aiyedatiwa has proved his mettle, beyond reasonable doubt, to lead the state to greater heights, based on his administration’s commitment to massive infrastructural development.
“We have seen the handwriting on the wall that the Governor is out to correct anomalies in the state. We give kudos to him for the befitting burial of the late Governor which has sent a strong signal to every son and daughter of the state that he is prepared to take us to the promised land.
