Aiyedatiwa restores unity, bolsters Tinubu’s continuity bid — Okunomo

Former Chairman of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State and spokesperson of the Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation during the 2024 governorship election, Hon. Banji Okunomo, has said the recent convergence of political leaders across Ondo State reflects a growing alliance aimed at strengthening support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continuity in office.

Okunomo, who spoke while fielding questions from journalists on Friday in Akure, described the gathering of past and serving leaders under one political umbrella as a testament to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s unifying leadership.

According to him, the formation of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) represents a coordinated political structure that aligns with the state government’s commitment to the success of President Tinubu’s administration.

“The Tinubu Support Group is the mother of all political organisations in Ondo State,” Okunomo said. “Unlike others, it has the official endorsement of the governor, who has accepted to serve as the Grand Patron and that speaks volumes about its credibility and strength.”

He noted that the massive turnout at the event was a reflection of unity among political leaders, stressing that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership style had restored peace and mutual trust within the state’s political landscape.

“There is no crisis in Ondo State. The governor’s leadership is not in contention,” he stated. “His 18–0 victory in the last governorship election remains the clearest evidence of acceptability and political stability.”

The former council boss also commended President Tinubu for the ongoing infrastructural development projects in the state, including the dualisation of Akure Road and the construction of the Coastal Road linking the oil-producing areas.

“These projects are direct results of the president’s commitment to economic growth and will undoubtedly attract investors to the state once completed,” Okunomo said.

He maintained that sustaining these developmental strides requires the continuation of Tinubu’s leadership, urging Ondo political stakeholders to rally behind Governor Aiyedatiwa and work towards delivering another landslide victory for the president in future elections.

“What we witnessed today shows that Ondo State is united behind its governor and the president. This is the strength that will drive the next phase of political success for both leaders,” he concluded.
