The Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa is set to formally receive the “instrument of surrender” from leading figures of the opposition, marking a historic moment in the state’s political landscape.

Prominent members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Action Alliance (AA), under the umbrella group known as the Nigeria Workstation, have concluded plans to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Mobilisation, Nigeria Workstation, High Chief Olutope Adebambo.

The high-profile decampees include Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, Convener of the Nigeria Workstation and former PDP State Publicity Secretary; High Chief Olutope Adebambo, former Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government and chieftain of the SDP; Chief (Mrs.) Rachael Ajayi, the 2020 SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate.

Others are Mr. Blessing Ologun, immediate past Assistant State Treasurer of the PDP; and Mr. Omotayo Obolo, popularly known as Mitchel, a former Special Assistant to ex-Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

A grand reception has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Akure City Hall, where the APC State Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, and members of the State Executive Committee will officially welcome the defectors into the party.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is expected to personally receive the “instrument of surrender” from the group, a symbolic gesture representing the unification of political forces in the state and the end of what was once a vibrant opposition front.
