Aiyedatiwa to swear in LG chairmen Monday

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, will on Monday, February 17, 2025, swear in the newly elected local government chairmen and their vice chairmen.
The swearing-in ceremony will hold at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome) in Akure, following the January 18, 2025, local government election, where the All Progressives Congress won all chairmanship seats across the 18 local government areas of the state.
A statement from the government confirmed that Aiyedatiwa will administer the oath of office to the elected officials while urging them to prioritise grassroots development and embrace good governance.
Dignitaries expected at the event include the Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji; members of the state legislature; Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola; President of the Customary Court of Appeal; judges; APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin; Chief of Staff; Head of Service, and other top government functionaries.
The event is expected to attract political stakeholders and residents eager to witness the official inauguration of the new council leaders.
Recall that the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission had on January 20 presented certificates of return to the 18 chairmen and their vice chairmen, while the 203 councillors-elect received theirs on January 22.
The ruling APC clinched all 18 chairmanship and 203 councillorship seats in the election.
