The Democracy Heroes Awards Africa (DHAA) 2025 has named Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo state as the ‘Most Proactive Governor of the Year 2025’ for his people-oriented programmes.

Governor Aiyedatiwa won the awards in the category that featured other state governors, at the 2025 DHAA dinner and awards ceremony, held at Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja on Thursday.

According to the organisers, the governor was nominated, and subsequently clinched the award for his strides in various sectors of the economy through the ‘OUR EASE’ development agenda.

Presenting the award, leader of the northern caucus in the House of Representatives and member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada federal constituency of Kano state, Hon. Ado Doguwa, congratulated the governor for the laurel.

Receiving the awards on behalf of the governor, his deputy, Olayide Adelami, thanked the organizers for considering him for the honour, saying “it is well deserving”

The deputy governor disclosed that the state has witnessed tremendous improvements since Governor Aiyedatiwa took the mantle of leadership.

“I am not surprised that my principal is being honored today for his achievements as a leader and governor of the Sunshine state. On his behalf, I would like to dedicate this award to the good people of Ondo state, who gave us an overwhelming victory in the last governorship poll, and have always been supporting our government to succeed” Adelami said.

The organisers also honoured other notable political leaders, young entrepreneurs and philanthropists, including senator representing Delta North, Sen. Ned Nwoko, Mr. Seyi Tinubu and Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Dangyatin, among many others.
