The Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Pipeline Surveillance and Waterway Security, Alore Omosuyi, has intervened in the crisis rocking the Ugbo-Nla community, seeking to restore peace after a violent clash between two factions.
According to the Baale of Ugbo-Nla, Chief Ebiwano Adebowale, the unrest began when Most Rt. Rev. Mobolorunduro Henry, the head of Zion, and his followers chanted in a riotous manner, declaring that “there is no more Baale in Ugbo-Nla.” This was allegedly triggered by rumours about the passing of the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom.
However, Mr. Taye Jedo, identified as the Registrar of the School of Theology, Ugbo-Nla Zion, provided a different account. He stated that the community’s youths were conducting a procession for a choristers’ anniversary celebration when they were allegedly attacked by the Baale and his supporters, leading to the conflict.
Amid growing tensions, Omosuyi assured residents of their safety and urged both parties to maintain peace while the government works toward a resolution. He emphasized that security agencies have been deployed to ensure the protection of lives and property.
Efforts to reach the King of Zion for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the clash has reportedly resulted in one casualty, identified as Mr. Bababo Lowo, a.k.a. Oyinbo.
Additionally, Ebiwano Bolaji Ipenko is currently hospitalised, while two other individuals, Mr. Niran Erayetan and Dero Owolemi, have been reported missing, according to information from the Baale’s camp.
Authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that necessary measures will be taken to prevent further violence.
